The “Laboratorio de Historia de los Agroecosistemas” of the Universidad Pablo de Olavide and the Alimentta think tank are organising the IX International Agroecology Congress, which will take place in Seville on 19-21 January 2023. This congress aims to discuss and debate the progress of the agroecology transition and, in particular, the “Sistemas Alimentarios Locales de Base Agroecológica” (SALBAs) and build connections between agroecology movements and researchers. This International Congress is based on the synergies between European and Latin American agroecology movements and researchers building bridges between experiences in both continents.
In this congress the ALL-Ready project has organized one session together with SCAR, AE4EU and Regional authorities to discuss the role of agroecology movements in the future Partnership of Agroecology, Living Labs and Research Infrastructures. The session is titled “La contribución de la Asociación Europea sobre laboratorios vivos e infraestructuras de investigación en Agroecología para la transición del UE” and is aiming to increase the awareness about the European Partnership on Agroecology Living labs and Research Infrastructures among the Spanish-speaking agroecology community as well as support the creation of the Spanish “mirror-group” of the Partnership. This session also expects to provide a space of open debate between researchers, movements and public institutions to ensure that the Partnership is develop in the most effective manner to support the agroecology transition.
Furthermore, the congress will also develop several other debates on how to overcome the existing gaps (between the global south and north, between the countryside and the city, between production and consumption) and the key role of women in tackling all these problems and, in general, in the development of the agroecological transition.
